Corrections Policy

Bristol Weekly is committed to improving the accuracy and clarity of its published content. When we identify a material factual error, we aim to correct it fairly and transparently.

What May Be Corrected

  • Incorrect names, dates, locations, figures or quotations.
  • Material factual statements that are inaccurate or unsupported.
  • Misleading headlines or captions.
  • Broken or incorrect source links.
  • Missing or improper attribution.
  • Important developments that materially change the context of a report.

Minor spelling, grammar, formatting or style changes may be made without a correction note when they do not alter an article’s meaning.

How We Review Requests

We assess correction requests against available evidence, including primary documents, official statements, recordings, public records and credible reporting. A request is easier to review when it identifies the exact statement at issue and includes reliable supporting evidence.

If a substantive correction is made, we may add an editor’s note, correction note or update notice explaining the change. Its wording and placement will depend on the seriousness and context of the error.

We generally do not remove accurate reporting solely because it is unfavourable or no longer preferred by a person mentioned in an article. We may update, anonymise, restrict or remove content when justified by law, safety, fairness, new evidence or other compelling circumstances.

Submit a Correction

Email bristolweekly.co.uk@gmail.com with the subject Correction Request and include:

  • The article title and URL.
  • The exact passage in question.
  • The proposed correction.
  • Supporting evidence or authoritative sources.
  • The requester’s name and relationship to the matter, if relevant.

Submitting a request does not guarantee a correction, removal or response. We may reject requests that are abusive, misleading, unsupported, unrelated or intended to suppress accurate reporting.
